Getting Outside

As many of you may agree, this year Spring is long overdue. Everyone I chat with is so anxious to get outside and enjoy some sunshine and good weather.
Over the past several decades I have been fortunate to have a career that allows me to work outside, but what is it that draws me outside?

The buzz of a saw with the scent of freshly cut lumber? The snap of a nail gun? For me this  really signifies spring is here. I also love the summer heat and rain. When it's time for the season to wind down I get to enjoy the extreme cold and snow. There is a great satisfaction for me that comes from working outside.

I think the biggest draw for me is that getting outside is where I go to relax, unwind, breathe deep, enjoy the fresh air and daydream of what can be created. The rooms within our homes all have a specific purpose. Such as, we go to the kitchen to eat, the living room to read or watch TV ...you get the idea. Outside can become anything you want, and together we can design and create a unique space that will bring your daydreams to reality and satisfy what may be missing from your indoor spaces.

Being able to design and construct the spaces that bring so much enjoyment to people is what really brings me outside. Whether we create a unique little arbour in the garden, a pergola for some shade, a sheltered dining structure, or a deck for entertaining. Those spaces draw us outside and allow us to relax and keep dreaming. So get outside and enjoy your outdoor space.

  11. I love you site and these pictures are so great. Your deck is so beautiful and I love sitting area you included. Also, the hard wood looks so nice with the colors of your furniture. I am sure it was very hard to pick out all the materials for this project. I took a long time for my wife and I to decide what type of flooring and shingles we wanted to use for our sitting area. We leave in Washington so that is why we decided to built a section with a roof because it rains a lot. I decided to research about TAMKO Shingles Lawsuit before purchasing any other products because my neighbor told me they were great. I am glad I did because our deck turned out beautiful. Great post, thanks!

  12. After purchasing our new home, my husband and I realized that we really wanted a deck outside. We had one at our old home and we used it all of the time. Would anyone know of a deck contractor near Hammond, IN? I think we are going to try and get one built before the summer months begin.

  13. I am really impressed by your idea of relaxing at deck space. No matter how small your backyard, planned renovation helps it make a beautiful place. Deck strippers are easy to install.

  14. I remember the summer my dad lowered our back deck so that it would be flush with the back door, so I could access it in my wheelchair. Not only did he lower the deck three feet, but he also pushed the wood slats together and made it a flat surface that my wheels couldn't get caught between the 2x4's. It was quite the feat to lower that deck.

  15. I think the addition of a deck would really help me get outside more. It's hard when you live in a basement that's dark all the time with nowhere to go outside. I'm excited to move to another house. Hopefully I'll be able to take advantage of a deck and have some barbecues with my friends.

  18. I want to add a deck onto our house really bad. My wife doesn't know if she wants to go through all of the trouble though. I bet I can convince her when I talk about having dinners outside with friends and things. She is a very social person so that should get her pretty excited.

  19. I am going to be redoing my deck this winter. I don't know much about building decks. I think that it would be best that I hire a contractor to help me out with my project. That way it gets done right and professionally. http://www.ankercontracting.ca

  20. I think I would spend more time outside if my deck was to look like that. I would have to install a new deck because the wood is really old. My wife would also really like a new deck. She is always wanting to spend more time outside.
